Income Protection - Are you protected?

You use your income to protect your car, your home and your holiday. It pays for your everyday expenses and enables you to save for your future. Without your income life would be pretty difficult, yet so many of us never even consider protecting it.

Income protection from providers like Cirencester friendly allows you to insure your income against illness or accidental injury helping you to meet your essential outgoings and concentrate on what really matters – getting better.

Cirencester friendly has been providing affordable income protection for the UK workforce for over 120 years. Established in 1890 to provide income protection for the Agricultural workers of Gloucestershire the Society now has a Nationwide Membership that covers most occupations1.

The need to protect your income is becoming greater as we enter an age of Government spending cuts and a restructure of the benefits system. Did you know that 2.2 million people of working age will be off work for at least six months at any one time through sickness and disability2. How would you and your family cope if this happened to you?

Think about where you spend your money for a second, could you live off just £94.25per week?

That’s the benefit you would receive from the Government if you fall ill and lose your income. Income protection puts you in charge and allows you to make the choice to protect your family should you lose your income due to illness or accidental injury.

Income protection insurance – Safe guarding you and your family

The great news is that an income protection plan can be affordable and will pay out when you need it most. Many people leave themselves and their families vulnerable to financial difficulties if a main earner becomes unable to work. Knowing that your income protection insurance will help you pay your bills and look after your family gives you peace of mind and lets you concentrate on your recovery.

In 2010 94% of claims were valid and paid by the Society. Cirencester friendly publish our Claims Statistics annually to ensure transparency to our Members. Our Claims Statistics Card helps to provide the detail on how we make our decisions, what qualifies as a claim and why we have had to decline claims. We believe that this offers the most transparent approach to how the Society operates in terms of handling claims and reassures our Members of our commitment to pay their income protection claims.
