Our commitment to you

We are a mutual organisation which simply means we have no issued share capital quoted on a stock exchange and are not owned by shareholders but by our Members who hold contracts with us. Our philosophy is simple. We are run for the benefit of our Members who, together with other Members, have the right to participate in the running of their Society. As with our past Members, our current Members are guardians protecting the benefits of generations of Members to come and taking decisions based on the long term rather than the short. We pride ourselves in putting our customers first and continually strive to improve the quality of benefits and service we provide.

The Society has always held the belief that good governance is not only important to the organisation concerned but as we have seen is also fundamental to the stability of the wider economy. We take our responsibility very seriously, and have a robust corporate governance framework. Corporate governance deals with the relationships and responsibilities that exist between the Board, the management team, Members and other relevant stakeholders within a legal and regulatory framework.
